Popeye Wind
Betta is really sick and I am not sure what to do next?
I have a betta and last week I noticed he had what appeared to be an injury on his head that looked like it was puffing out the top of his head. I did a complete water change used some betta revive and within two days the wound closed up, but then he developed popeye. I did a 25% water change and began using maracyn, which seemed to help because the eye is less cloudy and he is more active. So today I am noticing he has developed fin rot, the tip of his tail is black. He is in a five gallon tank that is filtered and heated and I do frequent 25% water changes, should I do I complete water change? I was told doing a big water change may only stress him out more and make everything worse. How do I treat him for both the popeye and fin rot? I'd like to keep using the maracyn because it seems to be helping his eye. It seems that as soon as one thing clears up another issue comes up and the people in the pet stores weren't very helpful.
try adding aquarium salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gallons) to prevent any infection and strengthen the immune system. a 25% water change and temperature of 80 degrees will also help.
