Rubber Plastic
I need an acid that will eat the rubber/plastic off of a copper insulated wire. Any suggestions?
I'd prefer it to be easy to obtain and not expensive. Also, it couldnt eat the copper.
There is no such thing in an acid. Any acid that would eat rubber would certainly eat copper.
The best thing to remove insulation from copper wire is to throw it in a wood burning fire. The wood fire helps consume the plastic fumes and then you'll just have bare copper wire. If you don't start a wood fire first, you'll have so much nasty fumes you'll draw the wrath of the neighbors. But you get a good fire going and just put in the copper nice and slowly a few pieces at a time to judge the smoke, and it should be fine.
If you are in the city, this isn't a good idea. In the city do what the other guy said
